Lewiston School of Dance
Our classes our held in R.A.D Ballet and I.S.T.D modern Theatre. We take children from 3 years old in our special ‘Babies class’ through to Intermediate Ballet and Modern; progressing through the R.A.D and I.S.T.D syllabus.
We hold an annual choreographic competition every year, with a school-wide display every two years. The school has had excellent examination results over the past 37 years with past pupils having gone onto further dance education to train as teachers and performers at some of London’s top colleges. Some are now successfully performing on stages worldwide, while others now have schools of their own.
About: Janette Fuller (Lindfield)
I have been enjoying dance since the age of 5, and spent my early years at a dance school in East Grinstead, later attending the Doreen Bird college of Theatre Dance. It was here that I attained my teaching qualifications, and am now a fully registered teacher for the R.A.D and I.S.T.D. I have also recently completed a Certificate in Dance Education with the I.S.T.D. I danced professionally for 2 years in both the UK and Monte Carlo before starting my own school at St. Francis Church Hall in 1977.
The school has enjoyed continued success and expansion, with an additional teacher Jamie Cooper working on Fridays at the Empire Halls, and a sister school being opened in Shoreham in 1991.
It is my belief that all classes should be both enjoyable and constructive, and I actively offer encouragement to children of all capabilities, helping each child reach their full potential and progress through the examination syllabuses.
Miss Lucy joined the teaching staff in June, teaching our Wednesday Grade 3 and Intermediate Modern classes. Lucy is an ex-pupil of our school and qualified as a teacher at Stella Mann dance college. She also has extensive experience dancing professionally on an internationally level.
Jamie has taught at the school for 10 years and is now helping with our Intermediate Modern exam coaching.
